Banff and Canmore, Canadian Rockies
With all the work being done by our staff this week on our new Banff National Park and Canmore wedding section, I can’t help but reflect a little on the possibility that this old Mountain Man may be destined to tie the knot someday.
As chilling as this thought may be, it gives me great comfort to know that I’m living in the Canadian Rockies, one of the best places in the world to do it, and that we have a wide range of options here.
And as I found out the other day, these options can include taking a helicopter or even sled dogs to your wedding site.
As a Mountain Man, those options really suit me. For one, I’ve been wanting to get up high over the Canadian Rockies so I can get a good view of some extended backpacking trips I’ve been thinking about. I figure I may as well kill two birds with one stone.
As for sled dogs, well, your old Mountain Man has been on this Jack London kick lately, and has just really been loving the idea of getting out deep into the woods with nothing but himself, some dogs and a guide to help out. Oh, and the bride-to-be, if I were actually going to get married.
Which reminds me of two things
One, you don’t have to be getting married to enjoy either of these activities. There are helicopter tours available, as well as heli-hikes, where they drop you off at a remote location and let you hike some of the most pristine backcountry there is. There are also general sled dog tours available, no bride required.
I’m also reminded that many people actually propose to their loved ones on rides like these. Now there’s something that warms a Mountain Man’s heart.
I figure, if I should happen to find a Mountain Woman some day, I can easily trick her into marrying me by proposing from a helicopter, or out in the woods after a sled dog ride. What Mountain Woman could resist?
