Drinking in Jasper – the Whistle Stop Pub
Jasper National Park, Alberta
Jasper National Park is the kind of place where you can’t help but be relaxed. There is something comforting in the air and in the surrounds with the towering mountains surrounding you. It is the kind of place than you can do an activity like hiking or skiing and feel like you deserve a snooze in your hotel or better again – a nice cold beer! There are a few different options to choose from and because of my excellent journalist ethic, I have tested as many as possible for you faithful reader.
I was looking for a place I could watch a football game while sipping a nice beer while still giving me the impression that I was outside in this famous National Park! The Whistle Stop Inn right below the Whistler Inn Hotel fit the bill perfectly. The staff was only too happy to turn the screens on for me and I exchanged banter with the locals about my love for the girly sport of football (soccer). There was a special on for my favourite beer – Alexander Keith’s and the atmosphere was perfect. Heaven!
The Whistle Stop Inn is more or less the focal point in Jasper. Both hotel and bar are within a stones throw of all the main restaurants, shops and activities in Jasper. There is nothing particularly fancy about the Whistle Stop but that is one of the things that make it so appealing. Trendy bars with elevator music are meant for nice clothes and Lindsay Lohan when sober. In your hiking gear and with the taste for beer unquenchable, the Whistle Stop is a great choice for a beer in Jasper.
