Experience Banff’s hotsprings in the Canadian Rockies
All the amenities of a modern facility are featured in Banff National Park’s Upper Hot Springs. The Banff Upper Hot Springs are have splendid, historic spa and bath house – against a backdrop of spectacular Canadian Rockies alpine scenery.
Here you can relax in the comfort of soothing hot water, where travelers have come for more than a century to enjoy the 1930s heritage bathhouse and the outdoor, spring-fed hot pool with view of famous Mount Rundle.
The hot springs are family friendly, with a children’s wading area, and spacious change rooms with heated floors that include family change / unit room. The hot springs also have a day spa that offers a variety massage therapies, steam room, aromatherapy, and wellness treatments.
Interestingly, it was a dispute over ownership of these hot springs that triggered the development of Canada’s first national park in 1885.
Banff’s Upper Hot Springs are located 128 km west of Calgary, 25 km east of the Castle Mountain Junction (Trans-Canada Highway). The Upper Hot Springs are on Mountain Avenue, four kilometres south of the Town of Banff. Follow Banff Avenue over the Bow River and turn left (east) at the last set of traffic lights. Follow the signs for 3.6 km to the Hot Springs parking lot at the end of Mountain Avenue.
