Jasper’s Budget Accommodations – The Jasper Inn
Jasper, Alberta
Now, Mountain Man is not the type to be picky with his accommodation choices, especially in the extraordinary surroundings of Banff. Usually my beard doubles as a pillow as I sleep under the stars. However, after a recent day of testing some of the ski resort upgrades around Jasper National Park, the relief I felt when I knew I was going home to a comfortable, warm hotel with welcoming staff was enough to make me giggle like a schoolgirl. When I remembered that the Best Western Jasper Inn was one of the cheaper hotels around, I did, in fact, giggle like a schoolgirl!
I spent two nights relishing the comforts the hotel had to offer. The sauna and pool (both in pristine condition) provided the exact relaxation I needed after a day of battering my broken body on the slopes. The staff at the front desk helped me with ski deals and also provided free parking for my Porsche (83′ Toyota) out front. Sometimes staying in a budget hotel doesn’t save all that much money as you still have to go out for meals and coffees. However, at the Jasper Inn, if you choose the renovated loft suites, you have the option of using the mini kitchen, which can save a lot if you are a less lazy person than me.
Jasper town site is only a short walk away so there are no dramas getting around. The only problem I had was with the wireless internet, which wasn’t working for me. However, after a quick phone call, one of the staff came up to sort it out so I could keep in touch with my loyal readers! The room set me back $160 but there were two double beds there that could definitely be used to make things more economical. This is a great option for those who want to keep an eye on the wallet while still being at the centre of everything in the Canadian Rockies.
