Best Jasper Accommodations – Mountain Man
Jasper, Alberta
In a strange kind of way, I consider the towns of the Canadian Rockies as my children. I keep thinking that I can choose a favourite between Banff and Lake Louise for example but then the tons of activities that Jasper offers swings things back in its favour. With my latest troublesome task of checking out another beautiful Jasper lodging, my neutrality was severely tested.
For those of you who have not been lucky enough to visit Jasper yet, the first thing that grabs you is the pure, raw beauty of its scenery. As well as being less crowded than Banff, Jasper is home to some of the worlds most stunning sights; glaciers, colorful mountains, lakes, wildlife and crystal clear streams are all plentiful here. The best part about where I was staying, The Mount Robson Inn, was that all this and more was right on the doorstep.
Before I had even parked my car, I noticed an elk nonchantly grazing only metres from the hotel entrance. ‘Check in’ took only a matter of minutes before I was up checking out the mini bar in my beautifully warm and spacious room. The Wifi internet was fast as a winter olympics bobsleigh, the on-site restaurant was very much to this Mountain Man’s liking and the laundry service somehow managed to cleanse my clothes of whatever filth and disease lived on them.
Jasper townsite is only a few short minutes walk away, though at times I wished it was longer. The clowds blowing over the mountains, the wildlife buzzing noisily around you, it really doesn’t get much better. At the end of a long day exploring Jasper town, I returned to the Mount Robson Inn for a well deserved relaxing outdoor whirlpool. As far as Jasper accommodations go, Mount Robson was one of my favourites and once again I fell in love with Jasper. The rest of my children towns of the Canadian Rockies will have a lot to compete with for my next visit!
